On 18 feb evening, LCB Akola conducted a raid on illegal betting operation out of a farmhouse in midc area (ps BarshiTakli). Total 33 accused arrested and muddemaal of 28.4 lacs seized.

Modus: Accused used to contact interested people using Telegram / Wtsap groups to play betting games on various illegal portals and were providing IDs for a fees which used to get deposited in various bank accounts.

Seizure: In the raid 113 mobiles, 12 laptops, 10 bank passbooks, 13 ATM cards , wifi routers have been seized. Total muddemaal of 28.4 lacs have been seized. Process of freezing 9.9 lacs amount in 54 bank accounts (related to creation of IDs) is also being done

Arrests: 31 accused have been caught on the spot. 6 accused from gujrat, 3 from UP, 1 each from bihar and MP, rest from various parts of Maharastra have been caught. Main accused operator Sanjay Gupta (Akola) and farmhouse owner Ravindra Pande have also been arrested. Search is on for other accomplices also.

Offence no. 60/2025 registered at Barshitakli PS – under section 4,5 gambling act, BNS 318(4) cheating , BNS 112(2) petty organised crime have also been invoked.

“The possibility of arrested accused belonging to other states having operated in other similar illegal betting operations is being verified; some passport entries of accused visiting Dubai are also found; further investigation is being done by LCB from all angles” – SP Bachchan Singh added.
